Before the word there was the tune, the rhythm of the soul. The word came and borrowed the primal rhythm, and there was poetry, the verbal expression of the soul. The “poet” is its medium.
an excerpt from the book
“Shining Bubbles of The Sacred Art” by Denizé Lauture is a fierce, lyrical exploration of the poet’s mind and the mysterious force of inspiration. Through vivid, sometimes surreal imagery, Lauture presents poetry as a living being—seductive, demanding, divine, and even dangerous. Proudly published by Citi of Books, this book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other major retail platforms.
Denize Lauture, born in Haiti to a family of humble peasants, emigrated in 1968 without a high school diploma and worked as a machinist and welder in Harlem. While supporting himself through manual labor, he pursued evening studies at The City College of New York, earning a B.A. in Sociology, followed by graduate degrees in Bilingual Education and Spanish Literature, with further studies at Fordham University and the CUNY Graduate Center.
A prolific multilingual writer, Denize writes in Haitian Creole, English, and French and has published more than a dozen books across genres. His work includes award-winning children’s books, poetry collections in English and French, bilingual and Creole publications, and a 2024 novel in verse. His writing has appeared in major literary journals and international anthologies, and he has served as co-editor of a trilingual Haitian poetry anthology published in 2023.
Beyond literature, Lauture is deeply committed to social progress in Haiti. Through partnerships with humanitarian organizations, he helped bring sixteen artesian wells to his birthplace region and supported the creation of a local school library with donated books. He has also contributed to cultural programming in New York, founded Total Kindness LLC, and spent years teaching languages and culture in higher education. He currently lives in the Bronx, New York, continuing his work as a writer, educator, and advocate for kindness and community uplift.
“Before the word there was the tune…” — and from that tune comes a storm of images you won’t forget.
If you’ve ever wondered what really goes on inside a poet’s mind, “Shining Bubbles of The Sacred Art” opens the door—and then blows it off its hinges. Denizé Lauture doesn’t treat poetry as a hobby or a craft. In these pages, poetry is a force of nature. It’s a vine that wraps around your life, a flame that refuses to be tamed, a daemon that demands fire. The poems are bold, sometimes raw, sometimes tender, but always alive. You don’t just read them—you feel them moving.
This collection is perfect for lovers of poetry, aspiring writers, artists, dreamers, and anyone who has ever felt consumed by a calling. It’s especially powerful for readers who crave something deeper than surface-level verse. Lauture writes about inspiration as if it were a living companion—sometimes generous, sometimes cruel. He captures the loneliness of the creative journey, the obsession, the ecstasy, and even the madness that can come with chasing beauty. If you’ve ever stayed up late with an idea you couldn’t shake, you’ll recognize yourself here.
What makes this book so compelling is its honesty. The poems don’t pretend that creating is easy or glamorous. They show the struggle—the doubt, the rejection, the tension between everyday life and artistic hunger. And yet, running through every page is a fierce love for the art itself. The message is clear: creativity is not optional for those who are called to it. It may exhaust you, challenge you, even embarrass you—but it will also define you.
At its heart, this book reminds us of something deeply human: we all long to create meaning from chaos. Whether you’re writing poems, building a business, raising children, or rebuilding your life after disappointment, the same truth applies—passion demands courage. “Shining Bubbles of The Sacred Art” invites you to embrace that courage. And once you step into its world, you may just find yourself looking at your own creative spark in a whole new way.
