A good book can take a reader somewhere unexpected, but a book festival can bring an entire literary community together in one place. With only two days to go, the anticipation for the Bookmarks Festival of Books & Authors 2026 continues to grow as Winston-Salem prepares to welcome authors, readers, publishers, and book lovers for a weekend dedicated to stories, ideas, and the people who bring them to life.
Taking place on September 26–27, 2026, the festival marks its 21st anniversary and will bring a vibrant literary atmosphere to downtown Winston-Salem. Visitors can look forward to author panels, readings, book signings, exhibitors, vendors, food trucks, and activities for readers of all ages. The festival’s children’s area will also provide young readers with activities and free books, making the celebration an inviting experience for families.
For Citi of Books, the approaching festival is an opportunity to celebrate the authors and books that continue to find new audiences. Events such as Bookmarks create a special kind of connection between a published work and the people who read it. A conversation with an author can provide a new understanding of a book, while discovering an unfamiliar title can lead to a story that stays with a reader long after the festival ends.
