Lin C. Capps’s experience as a hospice grief counselor allowed her to see the important role animals play in helping patients near the end of life. She observed their ability to provide comfort and unconditional love. She has met many retired seniors who have lost a spouse and live alone. Many have said, “My pet is so comforting that it fills a void in my life.” Others say their pet is the reason they get up in the morning or take a walk during the day.
These testimonies motivated her to adopt her pets and provide them with a loving home. Emmy has been her biggest challenge, but she has remained committed.
Like children, animals are vulnerable and rely on their caregivers to give them what they deserve: a lasting, loving home.
Lin C. Capps has taken creative writing classes and says she has always loved writing. Writing Emmy’s perspective on life has been a wonderful experience. This is her first book.
