Every year, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books becomes livelier and brighter due to the growing number of attendees. From book lovers, casual readers, and literary collectors to authors and publishers, people gathered to celebrate literacy.
The largest book festival in the US opened its doors last April for a glamorous two-day weekend celebration with the bookworms. Held at the University of Southern California, many book enthusiasts, book lovers, and book collectors, as well as writers, established authors, and many more, attended the free event.
A lot of bookfair-goers went by the Citi of Books booth to check for their next read and potential favorite book. One of the books that were chosen is “The Return: Christ Has Died, Christ Is Risen, Christ Will Come Again” by Gail Dawson McNally. It was displayed on April 20th and 21st at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California.
For twenty-five years, Gail Dawson McNally lived and worked in Panamá. With an extensive background in government intelligence work and the private sector in sales and marketing in the United States and Latin America, she now resides with her husband in Alexandria, Virginia.
If Christ were to return, how would he appear to us? How would he be greeted?
Besieged by terrorism and an alarming abandonment by the faithful, a Vatican gamble is launched to save the Catholic Church!
Aided by unlikely supporters, a young man, raised with Christ-like perfection, appears to be a simple fisherman on a small Pacific island. The planners, desperate to reawaken Christian belief, are filled with angst and face unintended consequences in their quest for renewed spirituality. A passionate island affair is but one influence on Vatican decisions. Human weakness is tested as Catholic dogma is violated and priestly vows collide with human sexuality. A wealthy countess is beset with conflicting goals: spiritual absolution and a long-denied love for a high-ranking member of the papal staff.
“The Return” explores the propriety and possible outcome of such an audacious effort by mortal man.
Like the Da Vinci Code, “The Return” delves into the challenge of true belief. Beautifully written and set against an international backdrop that spans Latin America, Rome, Israel, Washington, and more, The Return, with its unforgettable characters, is as provocative as it is entertaining.
