In collaboration with Citi of Books, the author of “From Out of the Sand,” Steve Sieting, held a successful book signing event during the 77th Frankfurter Buchmesse.

“From Out of the Sand” by Steve Sieting is a deeply uplifting memoir-poetry collection that traces one man’s journey from spiritual drowning into divine renewal. Framed in poetic and reflective prose, the book opens with a powerful confession of despair—when the author felt entirely disconnected from God, worn out by life’s pressures, and ready to turn away entirely. Then, in a singular moment of grace, the Holy Spirit whispered, “I hear your cry.” This moment sparked a lifelong pilgrimage into God’s presence, healing, and poetic expression.

Steve Sieting was born to depression era parents in Michigan,1956. His mother almost died giving birth to him and was told not to hold him because he weighed 11/11lbs. He grew up very shy in school and church yet loved sports and could be aggressive in sport activities. He entered the navy in 1976 for six years and served on board the nuclear submarine USS Snook. Some of his poetry has been influenced by his naval experience. Steve has lived in Georgia since he left the navy in 1982 where he and his

wife, Lynn, raised their three children. He still works in electronics and also runs his own part-time business. Steve has been nominated for Author of the Year by Georgia Writers Association Inspirational-Religious category to be announced June 7, 2014.

He recounts his spiritual collapse: isolation, depression, and resignation as life overwhelmed him. Yet he chose to pray one final time—only to be met by the assurance that God had not abandoned him. That divine affirmation marked the start of his long, disciplined journey of repentance, confession, and return—a trek marked by poetry, prophetic insight, and emotional honesty. Through alternating chapters of reflective prose and personal poetry, Sieting shares how honesty with God led him to repentance and spiritual transformation. His writing is a testament: if God reached out to him in his lowest moment, He will hear your cry too.

“From Out of the Sand” emerged from Sieting’s personal experience of spiritual crisis and divine rescue. At the crossroads of despair, he listened for God one last time—and heard “I hear your cry.” That moment became the fuel for his poetic testimony. His memoir feels like the echo of the Holy Spirit’s gentle voice—drawing another book of hope from the dust of disappointment. This book stands out for its simple, vulnerable honesty and poetic depth. Sieting does not hide his brokenness; instead, he leans into it—allowing readers into the raw middle of a faith crisis and the beautiful recovery that followed. His poetry and reflections read like prayers, accessible and consoling. For anyone feeling spiritually abandoned or exhausted by life’s struggles, the book offers real hope: that God hears even the faintest cry and meets us in our despair. The structure combining prose and poetry makes the work emotionally resonant and spiritually nourishing, especially for readers who love devotional-style memoir and poetic testimony.

“From Out of the Sand” is more than a memoir—it’s a sanctuary in print, a whispered assurance for anyone who has wondered if God still sees them. Steve Sieting’s journey from spiritual emptiness to divine companionship is a testament to perseverance, faith, and the healing power of confession. Whether you relate to moments of loneliness, unworthiness, or just long for tangible reminders of God’s nearness—this book offers peace to the penitent and courage to the fearful.

Its gentle message is clear: God says, “I hear your cry,” and that is more than enough.
