The author, Harvey C. Long Jr., went to Bradford and Newberry High Schools. He enjoyed writing, music, woodworking, and a peaceful country life. He was born in Alachua County. He’d had many run-ins with the law.
Now changed, he loved farming and enjoyed life, finally bringing his old work into the spotlight. The author started “Pharaoh: The Urban Legend” in jail in 2004. From there, it was finished at Century Correctional Institution and followed by Walton Correctional Institution. Read by many inmates, it became a prison classic.
“Pharaoh: The Urban Legend” is a novel about a guy dealing with life in poverty, where the only way to live was to do things against the law. Pharaoh had been stuck in Village Green for the last few years. The only option he believed he had for getting money was to be a criminal.
He would soon find out the background of a girl who suddenly took an interest in him, and her pain would slip into his heart and touch every fiber in his body. He falls in love with her while dealing with hardships and a dope life.
Then the two cousins, Richie and Draco, came to him with a plan. But on the streets of Gainesville, Florida, somebody always knew somebody. And Rose, his mom, had been on the streets for a while. It wouldn’t be long before the news spread.
