Among the standout selections that captivated attendees was “Rooms of Resilience: Building a Sustainable Life” by Arlicia Bryles.

The purpose of this book is simple, but deeply intentional: I want you to know that you are not alone. And I want to offer guidance, inspiration, and practical tools that add real value to your life, not theory, not perfection, but something you can actually carry with you as you move forward.

Each chapter represents a room, a challenge, a season, a defining space. Some rooms are about triumph. Some are about battles. Some are about learning how to stand when everything in you wants to sit down. And some are about realizing that even when you didn’t know the “right” way, you still found a way.

This is not a book about fixing yourself. It’s about understanding yourself. It’s about learning how to step into each room with awareness, compassion, and courage. It’s about knowing when to clean, when to repair, when to sit with what’s uncomfortable, and when to open a window and let in some air.

And before I dedicate this book to anyone else, I want to be very clear about something. I want to thank myself. Not from a place of ego. Not from a place of selfishness. But from a place of honesty and self-respect. I want to thank myself for enduring things I didn’t think I would survive. For walking through a divorce. For navigating childhood trauma. For facing learning disabilities. For carrying weight that was never mine to carry and for still choosing to rise and move forward.

Sometimes we don’t give ourselves enough credit. We rush past our own resilience. We minimize how far we’ve come. We look outward for validation when what we really need is to pause and say, I’m still here. Loving yourself is not arrogance. It’s fuel. Taking inventory of your journey is not dwelling on the past, it’s honoring your strength. You cannot move forward confidently if you never acknowledge the ground you’ve already covered.

I believe we are all creative beings. Life does not have to look like what we see on TV, what our neighbor is doing, or what we were conditioned to believe success should be. We are not meant to be carbon copies of one another. Everyone’s fingerprints are different. Every life is meant to unfold uniquely. And yet, so many of us were trained to keep our heads down. Go to school. Go to work. Keep going. Keep producing. Keep pushing often at the expense of our health, our joy, and our authenticity.

This book invites you to pause. To lift your head. To take a deeper look at the house you’re living in and ask: What kind of life do I actually want to build? Not a perfect one. A real one. One that can endure the seasons.

As you move through these pages, my hope is that you see yourself reflected here. That you recognize pieces of your own story. That you find language for things you’ve felt but never named. And most of all, that you leave with a renewed sense of confidence in your ability to navigate every room no matter how unfamiliar it may feel.

You are not broken. You are becoming. And this book is an invitation to build a life that feels like home.
