“I am writing my own bio because no one knows me to write one for me. So here I am. This book is me processing grief over the loss of my wife. I sought comfort and solace, and found them in authoring these pages. The process brought me closer to Marianna, and let me feel joy and hope again. This is my first work of imagination. I wrote an early “how to” book when the Catholic Church’s Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy was first published. I did that to help guide parish musicians in how to make changes to come into compliance with the papal document and the later instructions issued by the Conference of Catholic Bishops. I also wrote some poetry and published some songs. I do have some writing experience, but here is my first foray into this style of writing. I hope you will be touched by this. And for those dealing with similar overwhelming feelings of loss and grief, I hope you find solace here.”                              – words from the author

“Letters from My Wife” by Keith L. Patterson is a poignant and deeply personal memoir that explores grief, memory, and unexpected healing. Through a series of letters and reflections, author Keith L. Patterson chronicles his struggle after losing his wife to Alzheimer’s disease — and the mysterious message that changes everything he thought he knew about love, loss, and the afterlife.

What begins as a raw depiction of sorrow transforms into a story about reconnection and unexpected revelation, as a mysterious letter appears that challenges the author’s understanding of life after loss. The narrative blends memoir, introspection, and epistolary reflection — creating a space where readers can witness a husband’s internal journey following the profound impact of Alzheimer’s disease on his marriage.

This book is a reflective memoir rooted in one man’s attempt to make sense of devastating loss. After his wife succumbs to Alzheimer’s disease — a condition that erases identity and memory long before death itself — Patterson struggles with profound sorrow and the empty spaces left in his heart. In this fragile state, he unexpectedly receives a mysterious letter that prompts him to reassess his beliefs about love, life, and what lies beyond.

Rather than offering a conventional “grief recovery” manual, the book provides a deeply human exploration of mourning, raw honesty, and spiritual reflection. Patterson’s words serve both as a tribute to his late wife and a meditation on how love endures even when memory fades — resonating with anyone who has loved and lost.

“Letters from My Wife” stands as a heartfelt tribute to love in the face of loss — and a testament to the ways we seek meaning when life’s certainty dissolves. Through intimate reflection and thoughtful storytelling, Keith L. Patterson offers a companionship in grief that feels both personal and universal.

Whether you’re navigating your own pain or seeking a deeper understanding of the human heart, this book invites you to sit with the profound mystery of love that endures beyond memory.
