Held from October 7 to 11, 2026, in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the 78th Frankfurter Buchmesse brought together members of the international book and media industry for a five-day celebration of literature, publishing, and creative exchange. As one of the major meeting points for the global publishing community, the fair created a space where publishers, authors, literary agents, booksellers, rights professionals, distributors, and other industry representatives could meet, share ideas, and explore opportunities for collaboration. “Noodle & Friends: Noodle Is Chosen!” by Julie Schaus is a heartwarming children’s book inspired by the life and personality of a special dachshund named Noodle. This illustrated story introduces young readers to a lovable canine whose playful behavior and affectionate nature bring happiness to the people and animals around her. The book is part of a series inspired by the real-life experiences of Noodle, a dog remembered for her distinctive personality and her ability to form friendships.
Through a gentle, child-friendly storytelling approach, Schaus celebrates the joy pets can bring into a family and the meaningful connections that develop between animals and humans. The story’s title invites readers to discover Noodle’s experience of being chosen, while the larger series reflects the warmth, laughter, and companionship that made her such a memorable part of her family’s life.
Julie Schaus and her family are all natives of Colorado, a rarity in today’s world. She is blessed with a wonderful, loving husband whom she met later in life. Together, they have a beautiful blended family of six children and five grandchildren.
At the age of 62, she finally decided to pursue her lifelong passion for writing. Having started writing in her teens, she continued nurturing her creativity throughout her adult life. As a child, she was drawn to the stories of Dr. Seuss, whose rhythmic storytelling and meaningful lessons left a lasting impression on her and helped shape her love for writing.
Her inspiration to write again came from her daughter’s dachshund, Noodle, a truly unique dog with a lovable personality. Noodle had a remarkable way of making people laugh with her funny antics and winning the hearts of both animals and humans with her affectionate nature. The stories she inspired brought back the author’s passion for writing, while Noodle’s untimely passing ultimately became the reason she decided to publish her work.
Although the book is a work of fiction, it is inspired by many of Noodle’s real-life relationships and experiences, beginning with her bond with the author’s daughter, Lauren. Noodle was fortunate to have one of the most loving moms a dog could ever ask for, and in her short six years of life, she experienced more beautiful moments and meaningful connections than many do in a lifetime.
Through this heartwarming story, the author hopes to share the love, joy, and laughter that Noodle brought into their lives every day. Her story serves as a touching tribute to a special dog whose remarkable spirit continues to live on through the memories she left behind.
