Attending book events like the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books continues to play an important role in connecting stories with readers. It opens doors for collaboration, discovery, and inspiration that go beyond the pages of a book. As Citi of Books carries this momentum forward, readers are invited to explore featured titles in their Book Gallery, including “Lindbergh’s Shadow“ by Dennis Kearney.
Dennis Kearney received undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Notre Dame. As a prosecutor in New Jersey, he handled hundreds of indictments and tried 75 criminal cases to verdict, including: murder; arson; armed robbery; kidnapping; burglary; money laundering; narcotics; sexual assault and extortion. As a partner in a regional law firm, he prosecuted RICO cases, represented battered women, and exposed the largest real estate Ponzi scheme in New Jersey history, which was featured on the CNBC series American Greed and in the book, The Jersey Sting. He recently opened his own practice, where he devotes time to representing those who have been denied access to the justice system.
“Lindbergh’s Shadow” by Dennis Kearney found its place among the compelling titles showcased at the 2026 LA Times Festival of Books, drawing in readers with its gripping blend of history and suspense. From the moment attendees spotted it in the gallery, the book sparked curiosity, offering a fresh take on one of the most infamous cases in American history. It stood out not just for its historical roots, but for the way it wove mystery, justice, and human struggle into one unforgettable narrative.
The story carried readers across decades, connecting the 1932 Lindbergh baby kidnapping to a second, eerily similar case fifty years later. Through the eyes of William Gottschalk, a once-promising prosecutor haunted by the past, the novel unfolded with tension and emotional depth. Festival-goers were especially drawn to its layered storytelling, where courtroom drama met personal redemption. The writing felt immersive without being overwhelming, balancing detail and pacing in a way that kept pages turning.
By the end of the event, “Lindbergh’s Shadow” had quietly built a strong buzz among visitors looking for something both intelligent and thrilling. It appealed even to those who don’t عادة gravitate toward historical or political fiction, proving itself to be more than just a period piece. For many, it became one of those unexpected finds at LATFOB 2026, the kind of book you pick up out of curiosity and walk away thinking about long after.
