Benji Cole of CBS Radio interviews the author of the book “Unlocking the Doors of Dementia: Practical Help for Families and Their Loved Ones,” Lauren Mahakian

When it comes to providing information to the public or introducing a brand, a radio interview is one of the best mediums to use. That is why, in cooperation with CBS Radio’s host, Benji Cole, and Citi of Books Publishing, the inspiring and amazing stories behind every author’s work will be heard.

Lauren Mahakian, author of the book “Unlocking the Doors of Dementia: Practical Help for Families and Their Loved Ones,” was featured in an interview with Benji Cole of CBS Radio. They talked in depth about her book’s theme and inspiration during the interview.

Lauren Mahakian is a certified dementia practitioner, care manager, speaker, author, support group facilitator, and podcaster. She is an advocate for those experiencing cognitive decline and for the families who love and care for them.

In 2008, Lauren became the founder and CEO of Family Connect Memory Care, which provides care services and operates four memory care homes in the Torrance and Solvang areas.

“Unlocking the Doors of Dementia: Practical Help for Families and Their Loved Ones” is a self-help guidebook that helps its readers fight the frightening disease of dementia, as this disease is incurable and progressive, just like Alzheimer’s. This book gives practical suggestions concerning the behaviors of dementia, such as wandering, anxiety, and financial irresponsibility. It also suggests tips and techniques for handling difficult situations with dementia, such as moving a loved one to a new home or facility, reducing the risk of falling, and taking away the car keys.

Mom hasn’t been herself lately. She’s constantly misplacing her keys, and she is more and more disoriented, even in her own home. Is this normal aging, or is it the start of dementia?
