David Montes, was born in New York. His father began a dental business that moved them across the country over to San Fernando valley in California. His mother began working in the movie industry 20th century fox for almost 20 years. David Montes graduated from Cal State University Northridge. Shortly thereafter, David was involved in a car accident where he thought that he shouldn’t have survived.
During his recovery in Rancha Los Amigos rehabilitation center, the doctors told him that he needed at least a year for his brain to recover from a brain hemorrhage and was advised to pause his job. Instead of listening, David continued reading, got his degree, and met his wife. The accident was his second chance that inspired him to write a book about it.
