Benji Cole, the host of the show, interviews the author of a remarkable book entitled “You Bet Not Cry,” Rufus Lee Brown. The book is a memoir about the author’s mother and her life when she was a child.
Rufus Lee Brown was born in a small country town in Archer, Florida, named Alachua County. He was the third of eight children his parents had. His mother, Queenie Mae Brooks-Jones, was the author’s inspiration for writing this book.
It was his mother’s story when she was adopted by the Jones couple when she was 7 and was mistreated the moment they arrived home. His mother is known as Little Queenie, and she was a victim of abuse when she was young.
“You Bet Not Cry” is a novel that recounts the life of a strong black woman once she reaches adulthood. It details, describes, and it identifies what happened to the author’s mother, Mrs. Queenie Mae Brooks-Jones, in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

Yet, his mom was in a battle for her life when Seeds of Satan, some very evil people, lied to her grandmother, Julia Whitfield, so they could adopt the young child. This African American couple was as evil and ruthless as any criminal or dictator walking the earth.
