This true-life book, “The United States Army Ground Forces During the Interwar Years 1919–1941: Infantry Cavalry Field Artillery Coast Artillery” is dedicated to the author’s father and his hero, PFC Joseph T. Irwin. It explores and delves into the evolution of the U.S Army’s ground forces during the 1919-1941 interwar period. It brings readers to the time where they examined the challenges of transitioning from a massive wartime force to a peacetime army while also preparing for the growing threats on the horizon. The book also dives into the development of different branches including infantry, cavalry, field artillery, and coast artillery, along with the inclusion of informative images and insignia that helps readers visualize the event.

This book aims to let the readers know the importance of understanding the Interwar Army’s difficulties during the twenty years and to further understand how well it performed with the scant resources provided to it. It is the hope of the author for the readers to gain interest in a very important time in America’s history and the struggles that the Interwar Army had to overcome.
