A new website has been released for Connie Meyer’s published book “The Beauty of the Truth.” The website provides the author’s biographical information as well as details on how and where to purchase her books.
Connie L. Meyer has been drawing ever since she was old enough to hold a pencil in her hand. She received a BA in art education from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and authored an art curriculum for grades K–6. A wife, mother, and grandmother, she has also written a children’s picture book, a chapter book, and numerous one-page devotional articles for children.
“The Beauty of the Truth” explores the beauty of the doctrine contained in the Heidelberg Catechism through the eyes of artist and author Connie L. Meyer, as she explains how looking at the catechism from an artistic point of view yields a perspective that further reveals not only its beauty but also its truth. What is your only comfort in life and death? That is the catechism’s first question. And in the end, the whole of the catechism constitutes that question’s answer. That answer is truth, and that answer is beauty.
The Heidelberg Catechism is considered to be one of the most exquisite texts ever written and is a brilliant example of the Protestant Reformation. It is a confession of faith that conveys Reformed teaching in its most useful form—spiritual comfort—and is written as a series of questions and answers. Its comfort may be seen by seeing its truth, and its beauty can be seen by feeling its comfort.
