Val Nix is a native of Brunswick, GA and resides in Flowery Branch, GA. She is a graduate of University of Alabama Tuscaloosa campus with Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree and Georgia State University with a Master of Science in nursing. She has been a registered nurse for over thirty-seven years, nurse practitioner for seventeen years, and a military trauma nurse for over thirteen years. She has two adult children Keeniel and Mia, granddaughter Wynter Skye, and a German Shepherd named Milo. On her journey in search of African American books for babies and toddlers, she found very few.
She decided to write children’s books. The Wynter Skye’s Series is a collection of short children’s stories loosely based on Val Nix’s granddaughter and family. The Wynter Skye’s series books are fun, imaginative, relatable, and fascinating. Val Nix wants the audience to see through the eyes of Wynter Skye and how she experiences the world around her.
