
L M Lawrence
The author L. M. LAWRENCE was born and raised in the nation’s capital. She is extremely proud to be a Washingtonian. Around the middle of the sixties the city was nickname the Chocolate City. Afro-American were settling in the city in large numbers. Her father were among those who came to the city after World War II. He was born in Blackstone Virginia and raised in Petersburg Virginia. Her mother was also born and raised in the Washington, DC. Her mother family resided in the southwest section of the city. Her parent met while working in a laundry in the late forties and were married in the Catholic Church. Her parents was blessed with their aby girl in August 1952. During the early sixties, the family was blessed with a new addition another beautiful baby girl. Although the family lived in the projects of the city, they lived a happy life. Her father worked to support his family, while her mother was a homemaker and care for their two daughters.
L. M. Lawrence received her education in different parts of the city. Her first thirteen years of education were attending a private school Catholic school. As a teenager she attended public school and graduated from Anacostia High School. After high school she attended Federal City College which is known as the University of the District of Columbia. She did not finish her studies there. She began raising her own family. She is the proud mother of two sons and a beautiful daughter. Her extended family has grown to fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She later returned to school and received an Associate Degree in Business Administration. She has a number of public service occupation in her career, in which she is still employed today.
L. M. Lawrence always loved to write in school. She always excelled in English. She also discovered her curiosity for the truth. She had written a few short stories but never attempted publication. Like most people Ms. Lawrence has seen her share of ups and downs during her lifetime. She decided to write about a period of her life that had become very challenging. After discovering she had conquered her fears, she thought others could benefit her experiences. She hopes she can touch people’s lives in a special way just as others have touched hers.
