Each year, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books buzzes with increasing energy and vibrancy as more attendees flock to the event. From avid readers and casual book lovers to literary enthusiasts and industry professionals, crowds gather to celebrate the joy of reading.
As the largest book festival in the United States, the event kicked off with a grand two-day celebration last April at the University of Southern California. Visitors, including book enthusiasts, collectors, authors, and publishers, enjoyed the festivities free of charge.
Many attendees gravitated towards the Citi of Books booth in search of their next literary adventure and to meet up with their favorite author. Last April 21st, at the University of Southern California, Webster E. Moore signed and gave out copies of his insightful book, “Discovering My Royal Heritage While Surviving in Black Skin.”
The author of the book, Webster E. Moore, obtained a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by a master’s degree in educational psychology from California State University, Northridge. He pursued further studies by enrolling in the doctoral program in sociology at the University of Southern California. Additionally, he has conducted visits and research at Egyptian archaeological sites, received initiation into the ancient Ifa religion in Nigeria, explored Tanzania’s Ujamaa Villages, experienced life in Israel’s Kibbutz communities, visited Mexico’s Yucatan Pyramid, and explored Peru’s Machu Picchu National Sanctuary.
The book “Discovering My Royal Heritage While Surviving in Black Skin” was about Webster E. Moore’s discovery that people with black skin were the first architects, the first astronomers, the first physicians, and the first scientists. He then discovers, after experiencing the constant negation of any history beyond slavery, that the history of people in black skins is the blueprint, the foundation, and the mold from which people in white skins built their history.
A buzz of energy surrounded the enthusiastic author as he chatted with festival attendees. He infectiously discussed his book with everyone, from wide-eyed youngsters to seasoned bookworms. It was a truly joyful celebration of literature for all ages.
