“Faces from the Past” by Dave Taylor was proudly published by the Citi of Books. This fictional book circles on David Harlow, who spends most of his time looking at old pictures and going over old documents regarding his family tree. One time, while looking at an old photo of his family with a magnifying glass, he started to notice that the image was slowly moving. It is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retail sites.

Dave Taylor was born in Phoenix, Arizona, but the family moved to Southern California within the year. He has remained in Southern California along with his wife, Jacqueline, having been married for fifty plus years. After working in the data processing field for forty plus years, he retired and started traveling, with his wife, to places on his bucket list, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, France, and Israel.

Retirement has also given him an opportunity to finalize some of his stories he has been working on the last ten years. When not sitting behind the computer, he enjoys spending time with his family, which consists of his wife, two sons, and their wives, and six grandkids. Outside his immediate family, he has spent thirty-plus years researching his family roots. So far, most of his past generations had migrated from Ireland and Scotland.

Photographs are not ‘a mere photo,’ it allows us to step back into a time that was forgotten and reminisce the memories we have back then.

“Faces from the Past” delves into the lives of individuals from history, giving a voice to those who are often overlooked in the broader narratives. The book features a series of historical accounts and portraits, bringing to life stories of resilience, tragedy, and triumph.

The protagonist, David Harlow, spends his time the most in his study room, where he digs deeper tracing his family tree. While searching for information about this mysterious woman in the picture using his deceased wife’s magnifying glass, he noticed movements from those in the picture. There, he felt himself being pulled into the picture and found out that he could travel back on time.

Through meticulous research, Taylor reconstructs the identities and experiences of people from various walks of life, weaving together a tapestry that emphasizes the human aspect behind historical events. This work aims to shed light on the personal histories that shaped, and were shaped by, the times they lived in.
