As the fair celebrates another successful year of bringing together the brightest minds in publishing, Citi of Books proudly joins the festivities at the 77th Frankfurter Buchmesse, showcasing inspiring titles from its talented authors. Among the featured works in the Book Gallery is “Fear Not: Breaking Free from the World’s Fear of Living” by Douglas Stevenson— a timely invitation to step out of fear’s grip and into the freedom that faith provides.
Douglas Stevenson brings a compelling mix of spiritual and educational experience to his writing. He has served as pastor to mission churches, working bi-vocationally, and has also invested years as a teacher—particularly with at-risk students in juvenile residential and behavioral environments.
He holds a master’s degree in literacy from Boise State University and a Ph.D. in organizational research, assessment, and evaluation from Walden University. In his roles, Stevenson has witnessed firsthand how fear can erode self-worth, stifle calling, and dominate lives—giving him both credibility and compassion in addressing it.

In “Fear Not: Breaking Free from the World’s Fear of Living,” author Douglas Stevenson tackles one of the most universal struggles: fear. At a time when uncertainty, anxiety, and pressure seem to pummel nearly every aspect of life, Stevenson offers a spiritually grounded path to freedom. He argues that only a life rooted in a trusting relationship with Christ can truly break the chains of fear that hold us back from surrender, purpose, and peace.
Stevenson uses a blend of theological reflection, personal insight, and biblical teaching to explore how fear infiltrates our lives—affecting relationships, decisions, and our core identity. He delves into the nature of fear itself, asking tough questions about why we let it control us, even when we long to live freely. The book then turns toward hope: how faith, hope, and love can uproot fear when we lean into Christ’s sacrificial work and walk with Him day by day. Importantly, the author doesn’t present fear as an enemy to be aggressively conquered, but as a condition to be understood, exposed, and redeemed through a consistent life of trust in God.
What makes the book compelling is its balance of honesty, insight, and hope. Stevenson doesn’t minimize fear or pretend it disappears instantly; instead, he offers a realistic path toward freedom rooted in Christ. His perspective as both pastor and educator gives him sensitivity to the struggles people face daily—making his words resonate with those struggling under invisible weights.
For anyone wrestling with worry, identity, or the pressure to perform, this book offers something more than encouragement—it offers a spiritual framework for transformation. In a culture saturated with anxiety, this book stands as a timelier message than many realize.
“Fear Not: Breaking Free from the World’s Fear of Living” is more than a spiritual self-help book—it is a covenantal cry for believers to step into the life God intended. Douglas Stevenson’s call is simple but profound: we were not made to live in fear, but to walk in faith.
Let fear lose its foothold as faith claims its rightful place.
