Citi of Books at Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2025: A Celebration of Stories and Sustainability

In 2025, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF) marks a momentous milestone, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Pimpa, the beloved childhood companion cherished by generations of children. The 62nd edition of BCBF will take place at the BolognaFiere Exhibition Centre from March 31 to April 3, 2025. This year’s event will also feature Bologna BookPlus (BBPlus), a platform for generalist publishing organized in collaboration with the Association of Italian Publishers (AIE), alongside the Bologna Licensing Trade Fair/Kids (BLTF/Kids), which focuses on the vibrant world of children’s brands.

As an industry-leading event with over 61 years of experience, BCBF has successfully brought together a unique and diverse global audience, fostering connections and collaborations across the publishing landscape.

For the first time, BCBF and BBPlus will co-host a panel discussion on sustainability in the industry, titled “Sustainability Summit – Taking Stock and Reviewing the Roadmap to a Sustainable Future in the Book Industry.” This important dialogue will address themes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, including gender representation and the role of literature in shaping the education of future generations. Round tables featuring international guests will provide diverse perspectives on these critical issues.

The 2025 edition is expected to welcome around 1,500 exhibitors from 90 countries and regions, including first-time participants from Albania, Azerbaijan, Ecuador, Georgia, Guatemala, Iceland, Madagascar, Malta, North Macedonia, Peru, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

For four days, Bologna will transform into the world capital of illustration and publishing for children and young adults. This year, Estonia will be the guest of honor, showcasing its vibrant and dynamic publishing market that produces high-quality content across various genres. The Estonian publishing industry plays a vital role in preserving its culture, language, and national identity, viewing BCBF as a key opportunity to enhance its visibility and access to international markets. Estonia will also be featured prominently in the Market of Honor at BolognaBookPlus and the Talking Pictures competition, dedicated to the design of visual books.

Flying from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Bologna, Italy, we are thrilled to say that Citi of Books will be attending this amazing book fair representing our author’s spectacular books.
