American Library Association 2025 Book Gallery Highlight: “Saving Christ: Starway Seven” by Francis T. Perry Williams

As the 2025 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference came to an end, excitement built for an event that promised to be both dynamic and transformative. Set against the backdrop of the Pennsylvania Convention Center last June 26-30, this year’s conference served as a vital gathering for thousands of library professionals and advocates from around the globe.

The ALA dedicated to enhancing learning and ensuring access to information for all, embodied this mission through thought-provoking sessions and meaningful community connections. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with forward-thinking librarians, explore innovative ideas, and collaborate on strategies that would shape the future of libraries.

In response to the growing challenges faced by libraries, including an unprecedented surge in book challenges, the ALA developed a comprehensive clearinghouse of resources to support library professionals and advocates. This initiative empowered attendees to navigate these challenges effectively, ensuring that the fundamental right to access diverse literature was upheld.

Citi of Books (COB) was thrilled to be part of this prestigious event representing 18 books from our remarkable authors! Among the standout selections that made a memorable impression with its insightful approach was “Saving Christ: Starway Seven” by Francis T. Perry Williams.

Francis T. Perry Williams is a former actor and writer, from Happy Days to Laverne and Shirley and many more. His first novel is called Pollen and the Ring of Harmony.

“Saving Christ: Starway Seven” offers readers a unique and thought-provoking take on the crucifixion of Christ, blending elements of science fiction with profound theological questions.

This book’s bold imagery sets the stage for a narrative that challenges traditional depictions of biblical events. The premise revolves around a team of scientists who develop a time-traveling vehicle, embarking on a mission to witness Jesus’ life firsthand. While some members aim to validate Jesus’ divinity, others harbor more personal and vengeful motives, questioning the very nature of faith and divine intervention in human suffering.

The narrative delves into the complexities of time travel and its potential consequences, raising intriguing ethical dilemmas. It also examines the characters’ motivations and beliefs, revealing the nuances of faith and science through a close third-person narrative.

While the story is primarily presented from a Protestant perspective, it invites readers to reflect on the intersection of belief systems and the human experience. Despite minor editing issues and some discomfort with the portrayal of beauty, “Saving Christ: Starway Seven” ultimately offers a compelling exploration of faith, love, and the ramifications of altering history, leaving readers to ponder the profound implications of their choices.

As we looked back on this year’s event, we were eager to continue building connections and advocating for access to diverse narratives in every library across the nation, sparking conversations that inspired fresh insights and impactful action.

  1. It’s always refreshing to see new titles getting recognition from the ALA. I’d be interested in hearing what makes *Saving Christ* stand out from others in its genre.
