As the pages of history turn, we find ourselves reflecting on a remarkable milestone—the 30th Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the largest book festival in the United States, held on April 26-27, 2025. Set against the stunning backdrop of the University of Southern California campus, this annual celebration of literature brought together thousands of book lovers, authors, and industry professionals for a weekend brimming with literary magic.
Attracting around 150,000 attendees from Southern California and beyond, the festival was a testament to the enduring appeal of literature and the community it fosters. Each event, each conversation, and each shared moment contributed to a rich tapestry of experiences that celebrated the diverse voices and stories that shape our world.
This year, Citi of Books was thrilled to be part of this vibrant gathering, where the love for literature was palpable in the air. Whether you were a lifelong bibliophile or a curious newcomer exploring the world of books, the festival provided a unique opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts and share our passion for the written word.
As we look back on this unforgettable weekend, we invite you to join us in reliving the highlights of Citi of Books’ gallery during the 30th Los Angeles Times Festival of Books—a true celebration of the literary arts! A book included in the gallery was “A Shadow Of Light, A Memory Of Hope” by Timothy Bradley Reinhold.
Timothy Bradley Reinhold, often known as Brad, is an accomplished author and poet with a diverse background shaped by his experiences living in various regions, including the northeast, the Carolinas, Canada, and Europe. He attended Furman University on a cello scholarship, where he explored a range of subjects, including computer science, music, and history. After a significant life transition, he returned to academia, earning an associate’s degree followed by a bachelor’s in philosophy. Currently, he is pursuing a BFA in Narrative Production in Film at the Nicholson School of Communication and Media.
Reinhold is best known for his poetry collections, including “A Shadow Of Light, A Memory Of Hope” and “The Quantum Soul,” which reflect his deep understanding of human experiences and emotions. His writing resonates with readers, offering insights into the complexities of life and the human condition. Through his literary work, he continues to make a significant contribution to the literary field.
In “A Shadow of Light, A Memory of Hope,” the author presents a profound collection of poetry that intricately navigates the complexities of human emotion and the eternal struggle between darkness and light. Through his evocative verses, he constructs a narrative that resonates on both personal and universal levels, offering readers poignant insights into the human condition.
The collection is thoughtfully divided into thematic sections, each illuminating different facets of life’s experiences—from the depths of grief and loss to the uplifting power of love and hope. Reinhold’s lyrical intensity and rich imagery invite readers to engage with the text on a visceral level, making each poem not just something to be read, but something to be deeply felt.
This anthology is a journey into the farthest reaches of the human soul, exploring a wide array of topics that include social and political commentary, love, heartbreak, and the renewal of hope. Reinhold’s work also delves into spirituality, idealism, and the beauty of nature, while even reflecting on the art of poetry itself.
Moreover, “A Shadow of Light, A Memory of Hope” is the culmination of a decade of Reinhold’s poetic exploration, showcasing his ability to articulate the struggles and triumphs of life with authenticity and grace. This collection serves as a reminder that even in our darkest moments, there is always a glimmer of light and a memory of hope waiting to be discovered.
