Citi of Books proudly brought the books of our remarkable authors to the heart of the 39th Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), turning our space into a lively corner where stories, ideas, and creativity met.
Being part of FIL from November 29 to December 7, in Expo Guadalajara, Av. Mariano Otero 1599, Col. Verde Valle, Guadalajara, Jalisco, meant more than simply displaying books—it meant becoming part of a larger cultural heartbeat. Our gallery served as a bridge between authors and curious readers, offering a close-up look at stories that deserve the spotlight. From powerful biographies to practical guides, and from imaginative fiction to soul-stirring reflections, our curated collection drew in visitors who left with new favorites in hand. And with the vibrant spirit of FIL all around us, every conversation, recommendation, and smile felt like a reminder of why we love sharing books with the world.
With FIL’s electric atmosphere—filled with authors, readers, and cultures from around the globe—our gallery became a warm stop for visitors eager to discover fresh voices and inspiring works. Among the standout titles we showcased was the Spanish Edition of The Travels of a Service Dog: Stories of Scotty, “Los Relatos de Scotty: Viajes y anécdotas de un perro de servicio” by Ana Elena Rivera Castillo.
Ana Elena Rivera Castillo graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in biology. Now working as a professional researcher in her field, she loves spending time with nature, practicing amateur photography, and getting to know the marvelous creatures that live throughout the world. Ana is a traveler, and she is deeply grateful for her service dog, Scotty, who has helped her experience tremendous beauty and peace in all the places she has roamed.
Have you ever wondered what the world looks like through the eyes of a service dog? “The Travels of a Service Dog: Stories of Scotty” gives you exactly that—and trust me, it’s as sweet, funny, and heart-tugging as you’d imagine. This book is perfect for animal lovers, travel enthusiasts, families, kids, teachers, and honestly anyone who needs a gentle, uplifting escape from life’s chaos. Scotty’s voice is playful and curious, and following him through beaches, forests, deserts, and ancient ruins feels like traveling with your favorite furry companion in your backpack.
What makes this book truly special is the emotional core behind the adventures. After the passing of his first owner, Scotty becomes a source of comfort and strength for her daughter, Ana. Their travels—to the Everglades, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, the Riviera Maya, and so much more—are more than road trips; they’re a journey through grief, healing, and rediscovery. Many of us know what it’s like to lose someone, and the way Scotty describes protecting Ana, cheering her up, and helping her find joy again hits home in a way that feels both tender and inspirational.
But don’t worry—this isn’t a sad book. In fact, it’s overflowing with adorable moments, funny dog-logic, nature facts, and real stories that make you smile. Scotty talks about watching out for crocodiles, getting scared on airplanes, trying to chase squirrels while remaining a “professional,” and even accidentally getting in trouble at a hot spring. Readers who love geography, nature, animals, or just a good, wholesome story will find themselves hooked. It’s like a travel documentary, but narrated by a dog who thinks alligators are suspicious and bison need attitude adjustments.
This book aims to advocate that healing comes in little steps, and sometimes the best way to move forward is to explore new places with someone who loves you unconditionally—even if they walk on four legs. Life can be messy and unpredictable, just like Scotty’s adventures, but with companionship, curiosity, and courage, we can always find our way home. If you’re looking for a heartwarming read that reminds you how beautiful the world—and the bond between humans and animals—can be, this book deserves a spot on your nightstand.
Below is the Spanish description of the book:
You can purchase the book through the link below:
