Citi of Books proudly brought the books of our remarkable authors to the heart of the 39th Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), turning our space into a lively corner where stories, ideas, and creativity met.
Being part of FIL from November 29 to December 7, in Expo Guadalajara, Av. Mariano Otero 1599, Col. Verde Valle, Guadalajara, Jalisco, meant more than simply displaying books—it meant becoming part of a larger cultural heartbeat. Our gallery served as a bridge between authors and curious readers, offering a close-up look at stories that deserve the spotlight. From powerful biographies to practical guides, and from imaginative fiction to soul-stirring reflections, our curated collection drew in visitors who left with new favorites in hand. And with the vibrant spirit of FIL all around us, every conversation, recommendation, and smile felt like a reminder of why we love sharing books with the world.
With FIL’s electric atmosphere—filled with authors, readers, and cultures from around the globe—our gallery became a warm stop for visitors eager to discover fresh voices and inspiring works. Among the standout titles we showcased was “The Boy Who Didn’t Follow Directions” by Kathy Zuziak.
Kathy Zuziak has been in the music ministry for many years, serving in both denominational and non-denominational churches. She has taught numerous bible studies, both informally and as a licensed minister. She has led worship for both adults and children, and has published Christian worship songs, record internationally. She currently lives in Florida. Her desire is to make the Word of God accessible and understandable to everyone.
The Church is not a building but a living, breathing entity of a diverse group of people who make up what the Bible calls the body of Christ and share His words.
“The Boy Who Didn’t Follow Directions” by Kathy Zuziak circled on Marvin, a bright but direction-challenged boy, and his journey into a bizarre dimension where strict adherence to rules is essential. Here he discovered the importance of listening and following guidance, realizing that true creativity and friendship thrive when balanced with responsibility. This book is Kathy’s third published book with Citi of Books, following her previous works, “The King’s Robe” and “A Kingdom for Us.” Each of these enchanting stories showcases Kathy’s unique storytelling ability and her talent for crafting engaging narratives.
Marvin was a smart kid with a knack for figuring out the rules and shortcuts in the game world. However, despite his intelligence, Marvin had one significant flaw: he simply didn’t like to follow directions. This tendency often led him into trouble, and it was a problem that he didn’t quite understand. After yet another mishap, his teacher had had enough. In a moment of desperation, she called “THE MANAGER.”
The Manager took Marvin aside and whispered something in his ear, and just like that, they both vanished into thin air. Marvin found himself in a bizarre dimension where directions were not just suggestions but strict rules that everyone had to follow. Marvin quickly realized that this dimension was not just a game; it was a lesson in the importance of following directions.
As Marvin navigated this topsy-turvy world, he encountered Apple, a talking fruit who had a pressing question for him. “Are you… the ENEMY?” Apple’s inquiry struck Marvin like a bolt of lightning. As Apple recounted the series of unfortunate events that had unfolded due to Marvin’s disregard for directions, Marvin felt a pang of guilt. He remembered the times he had ignored Apple’s guidance, leading them into perilous situations. The realization hit him hard: his actions had consequences, and he had let his friend down.
Overall, Marvin’s adventure in the Land of Directions became a turning point in his life. He learned that while creativity and intelligence are valuable, they must be balanced with the ability to listen and follow guidance. As he returned to his world, he carried with him a newfound respect for direction and the importance of collaboration. With this lesson in mind, Marvin was ready to embrace his creativity in a way that would not only benefit himself but also those around him. After all, true friendship and growth come from understanding and following the paths laid out for us, even when they seem challenging.
