As the fair celebrates another successful year of bringing together the brightest minds in publishing, Citi of Books proudly joins the festivities at the 77th Frankfurter Buchmesse, showcasing inspiring titles from its talented authors. Among the featured works in the Book Gallery is “The Birds of Paradise Visit a Fern Forest” by Carolyn Gora — a joyful children’s book circles on a family of birds as they go in a birdcation.
Carolyn Gora was a Florida public school art teacher. During her career she taught elementary, middle, and high school students. She also taught elementary education university students how to incorporate art into their classroom lesson. She has been painting animal characters for over fifty years.

“The Birds of Paradise Visit a Fern Forest” is her second book. Her first book, “The Almost True Story of Birds of Paradise” was written so her grandchildren would be able to read the story by themselves. She got the idea for the two books from her own birds of paradise plants, which finally bloomed and resembled birds.
They landed in the Fern Forest. The forest was filled with many different kinds of ferns. They saw long hanging ferns and teeny tiny ferns.
“The Birds of Paradise Visit a Fern Forest” by Carolyn Gora focuses on a family of three birds living in the Birds of Paradise. The birds emerged from the boring green leaves, which turned into three colorful leaves. They suddenly came up with an idea of having a birdcation in a perfect place, the Fern Forest.
The Fern Forest is filled with ferns with animal names who look like their names. Children will learn about ferns and nature through Carolyn Gora’s whimsical illustrations and dialogue. Children will surely enjoy this book, with its every page filled with cute drawings.
