American Library Association 2025 Book Gallery Highlight: “Our American Being, Righteously Free” by Jim Bowman

As the 2025 American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference came to an end, excitement built for an event that promised to be both dynamic and transformative. Set against the backdrop of the Pennsylvania Convention Center last June 26-30, this year’s conference served as a vital gathering for thousands of library professionals and advocates from around the globe.

The ALA dedicated to enhancing learning and ensuring access to information for all, embodied this mission through thought-provoking sessions and meaningful community connections. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with forward-thinking librarians, explore innovative ideas, and collaborate on strategies that would shape the future of libraries.

In response to the growing challenges faced by libraries, including an unprecedented surge in book challenges, the ALA developed a comprehensive clearinghouse of resources to support library professionals and advocates. This initiative empowered attendees to navigate these challenges effectively, ensuring that the fundamental right to access diverse literature was upheld.

Citi of Books (COB) was thrilled to be part of this prestigious event representing 18 books from our remarkable authors! Among the standout selections that made a memorable impression with its insightful approach was “Our American Being, Righteously Free” by Jim Bowman.

Jim Bowman is a seventy-eight-year-old retired boilermaker, who was raised in and around the Philadelphia area, who briefly attended college, and who is an Army veteran of Vietnam. He is the proud father of daughter Kimberly and son Gregory and is also the grandfather of Connor, Emma, and Aidan. He is a self-taught writer with over thirty years of experience, which includes having published This Roar of Ours. His love of golf offsets each frustrating round of which only he earned. He has resided in Ormond Beach, Florida, for over twenty years but still misses those Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies!

What does freedom mean to you?

“Our American Being, Righteously Free” is a riveting book that aims to raise the public’s interest and curiosity to develop a deeper comprehension and appreciation of the state country.

This book is separated into the three presidential administrations from 2009 through 2022. Jim Bowman explores the philosophical and historical roots of American liberty, emphasizing the importance of personal responsibility, self-determination, and the moral underpinnings of a free society.

The author strives to advocate the principles of freedom and survival for American citizens. He argues that true freedom is not just about the absence of external constraints but also about upholding a righteous and ethical approach to liberty. People seem to overlook or forget what is truly important. This book reflects how far Americans have drifted from the origins of individual liberation.

Our American journey was gifted to us all at birth but as usual, anything given tends to lessen in value, especially when it’s belittling is encouraged!

As we looked back on this year’s event, we were eager to continue building connections and advocating for access to diverse narratives in every library across the nation, sparking conversations that inspired fresh insights and impactful action.
