As the pages of history turn, we find ourselves reflecting on a remarkable milestone—the 30th Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the largest book festival in the United States, held on April 26-27, 2025. Set against the stunning backdrop of the University of Southern California campus, this annual celebration of literature brought together thousands of book lovers, authors, and industry professionals for a weekend brimming with literary magic.

Attracting around 150,000 attendees from Southern California and beyond, the festival was a testament to the enduring appeal of literature and the community it fosters. Each event, each conversation, and each shared moment contributed to a rich tapestry of experiences that celebrated the diverse voices and stories that shape our world.

This year, Citi of Books was thrilled to be part of this vibrant gathering, where the love for literature was palpable in the air. Whether you were a lifelong bibliophile or a curious newcomer exploring the world of books, the festival provided a unique opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts and share our passion for the written word.

As we look back on this unforgettable weekend, we invite you to join us in reliving the highlights of Citi of Books’ gallery during the 30th Los Angeles Times Festival of Books—a true celebration of the literary arts! A book included in the gallery was “The Weekend Flyer” by Mike Echo.

Mike Echo is a pseudonymous author known for the novel The Weekend Flyer. While details about his personal life are limited, his work primarily falls within the realms of fiction. If you’re curious about his other works or more details about him, diving into his books or exploring literary discussions about him might offer additional insights.

In flying a plane, direction is commanded by pushing the rudder pedals all the way down the desired path. In terms of our lives, we are applying weight to take the path of our choice.

“The Weekend Flyer” is a gripping story that combines elements of thriller and adventure experienced by the author as they turn cockpit into passion. It is the love story of people who have a passion for flying or following aviation in its many forms. This book describes emotions in stressful situations, as fighter pilots, as pilots fighting professionally, or as pilots flying for pleasure. He artfully describes their actions and emotions in moments that saved their lives.

Every page of the book is filled with Mike’s experiences, as well as live interviews with many in aviation and TV programs around the world. Mike, at the age of 17, was enlisted in mandatory military service and found suitable for service as an aircrew. He was approached by a young Air Force officer who accompanied him into the Air Force base academy hall. On that day, he was introduced to aviation and started a life with planes.

The author demonstrates that “those who try flying are forever infected by the experience.”
