Every year, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books becomes livelier and brighter due to the growing number of attendees. From book lovers, casual readers, and literary collectors to authors and publishers, people gathered to celebrate literacy.
The largest book festival in the US opened its doors last April for a glamorous two-day weekend celebration with the bookworms. Held at the University of Southern California, many book enthusiasts, book lovers, and book collectors, as well as writers, established authors, and many more, attended the free event.
A lot of bookfair-goers went by the Citi of Books booth to check for their next read and potential favorite book. One of the books that were chosen is “Maplewood Hollow Mysteries, Book 1: An Invitation to Mystery” by Deborah Sorena. It was displayed on April 20th and 21st at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California.
This charming children’s mystery, the first in the Maplewood Hollow series, follows Hedwig, the hedgehog. Hedwig’s a well-intentioned but forgetful creature who lives in a picturesque valley with his animal friends. While planning a birthday bash for Mr. Beasley, Hedwig stumbles into a series of mishaps, even upsetting Rufus the badger. Luckily, Charlie the robin swoops in to save the day, teaching Hedwig the importance of prayer and trusting in God.
More than just a fun mystery, the story aims to help children navigate life’s challenges from a Christian perspective. It encourages them to forgive others, value friendship, and find strength in faith. Written in the style of classic children’s books, “An Invitation to Mystery” promises to be a delightful and faith-filled adventure for young readers.
