Every year, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books becomes livelier and brighter thanks to the growing number of attendees. From book lovers, casual readers, and literary collectors to authors and publishers, people gathered to celebrate literacy.
The largest book festival in the US opened its doors last April for a glamorous two-day weekend celebration with the bookworms. Held at the University of Southern California, a large number of book enthusiasts, book lovers, and book collectors, as well as writers, established authors, and many more, attended the free event.
A lot of festival attendees went by the Citi of Books booth to check for their next read and potential favorite book. One of the books that were chosen is “Homies, Lovers, Friends… & Murder” by Patrick L. Turner. It was displayed on April 20th and 21st at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California.
Patrick L. Turner, originally from Fort Worth, Texas, moved to California as a child and settled in San Diego. He attended Morse High School, where he played football. Despite being the youngest of nine children raised by a single mother, Patrick became a dedicated father figure to his son Marquis and nephew Bryan, whom he raised from a young age.
Patrick’s involvement in youth sports led him to establish the Pat on the Back Foundation (POTB) in 2012, aiming to support underprivileged youth in his community. Through POTB, he sponsored sports participation and organized educational and recreational activities for thousands of young people, earning recognition for his service, including the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
In addition to his philanthropic endeavors, Patrick is a seasoned entrepreneur, having successfully managed multiple businesses over three decades, such as PT Print Productions and PT World Travel & Tours. Despite his business ventures, he has also served in government roles for nearly 30 years. With a background in business and a knack for innovation, Patrick is known for his visionary approach and generous spirit.
Today, Patrick resides in Texas, where he continues to pursue his passions for family, sports, and entrepreneurship.
“Homies, Lovers, Friends…& Murder” is a dark and realistic story (based on real events) about a close group of friends in Santa Monica. It explores the tough realities of friendship, loyalty, and violence. The story follows them as they deal with the sudden murder of a friend and their fight for justice, even when faced with a cover-up.
