“Jamal and the Large Mirror (Volume 2)” by Yancy Seals is now available for purchase

Citi of Books launched the publication of the children’s book “Jamal and the Large Mirror (Volume 2)” by Yancy Seals. This book showcases the teenage years of Jamal, wherein the book teaches the importance of self-worth and strengthening yourself through your own words. The book is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other retail sites.

Yancy Seals, the author, is a veteran and the son of a fallen veteran; he is Jamal. His goal with this book is to give kids some tools on how to navigate trauma after a loss through the power of the tongue by saying inspirational quotes, saying them, and believing them. His passion is writing and authoring technical manuals for the federal government. After his career, he wanted to continue to do what he loves: serve the community and help our youth.

“Jamal and the Large Mirror (Volume 2)” is another volume of the book with the same title, telling the story of a boy named Jamal. He was a fifth grader living in Brooklyn, New York, with his mother and older brother. The two boys’ father was killed in a helicopter accident during his military service in Iraq. Before he left, though. Jamal’s dad gave his youngest son some life lessons, including “If it’s to be, it’s up to me,” about taking responsibility for one’s personal choices and actions. Using a large mirror in their home, Jamal’s father also told his son that there was a large community behind them that they couldn’t see but was giving the mirror gazer strength and support.

The community that Jamal ultimately envisioned included his father as well as the late Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., former President Barack Obama, Vice President Kamala Harris, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson, and others. The goal of the mirror lesson was to instill in Jamal the assurance that he was not alone, even when his father could not be with him physically.
