“Any Way Out” by Lisa White is now available for purchase

The young adult fiction book is very relatable and honest as it deals with relevant issues, such as depression and drug usage. Lisa White, the author, grew up in Upstate, New York, near the beautiful shores of Lake Ontario. Along with her sisters and brothers, she was fortunate to have a large extended family in the area. Lisa graduated from college and became an X-ray technician, but only in her younger years.

When she met her husband-to-be, she moved to Connecticut to be with him. Now, she’s residing there with her family.

Her book, “Any Way Out,” is a young adult fiction novel that tackles problems that are faced by teenagers, from different family issues to self-destruction and depression. A timely and relatable book that can be enjoyed by readers of all ages.

Following the story of a teenager, Ashley Ames, who painfully grew up in a rural area before technology bloomed. Her parents are bitterly divorced and caught up in their own lives; they are too busy to care about what goes on with Ashley. However, she does find support from her stepmother, Ruth.

Ashley bounces back and forth between her parents’ homes with good reason. Either she moves because it’s gone bad, or they throw her out.

Ashley’s behavior is erratic and self-destructive at home and school. She gets selected to participate in a Scared Straight program at a prison. It helps for a while.

A young man, Ryan, doing a repair job at Ellen’s house, Ashley’s mother, notices Ashley. She just moved back in with her. As Ashley goes through high school, her escapades get her into trouble while she deals with deep depression, leading to a suicide attempt.

She has struggled but eventually finds her way out.
