Every year, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books becomes livelier and brighter due to the growing number of attendees. From book lovers, casual readers, and literary collectors to authors and publishers, people gathered to celebrate literacy.
The largest book festival in the US opened its doors last April for a glamorous two-day weekend celebration with the bookworms. Held at the University of Southern California, many book enthusiasts, book lovers, and book collectors, as well as writers, established authors, and many more, attended the free event.
A lot of bookfair-goers went by the Citi of Books booth to check for their next read and potential favorite book. One of the books that were chosen is “The Other Night Before Christmas” by Morgan C. Wilson. It was displayed last April 20th and 21st at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at the University of Southern California.
Dr. Morgan C. Wilson, Jr., a retired educator with 37 years of experience, has been engaged in creative pursuits such as poetry, songwriting, and short story writing for the past fifty years. Alongside his literary endeavors, he finds joy in singing as a member of his church choir and as a tenor soloist for various special events. Outside of his artistic pursuits, he indulges in hobbies such as woodworking, reading, yard maintenance, and photography. Additionally, he actively participates in organizations like the Suffolk Virginia Sister Cities International and serves as a board member of the Suffolk Art League. Dr. Wilson and his wife, Sandra, who inspired one of the poems in his collection, reside in Suffolk, VA, in a meticulously renovated 1913 home overlooking Lake Meade, where they diligently tend to their yard.
Christmas is a time when our best is evident in many wonderful ways. Beautifully wrapped gifts placed under a perfectly decorated tree take our hearts and minds on a journey through many of the fondest memories the season brings. The table setting where family and friends will gather stirs our thoughts of kindness. Yet it is the human spirit that drives us all to do as well as possible in preparation for the big day. The night before Christmas can be a scene of madness and mayhem, though of a joyful kind, but it is mostly a perfect picture of the ones we love, captured by their unseen efforts in preparation for the Savior’s birthday.
